Rescue Me ID: 15-01-13-00469Princess Peach (female)

Pug Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

We call her 'Peaches.' It has become apparent that Peaches would do much better in an only pet household. She seems fine with children as she has been around my nieces who are five and four. However, cats and other dogs are another story. She will have to be an only pet.I will need your confirmation (after a visit) that she will be the only pet in your household as she has been in confrontations with other dogs and will chase cats. She is a good dog though and while curious does very well in my home. Fully house trained. She does urinate several times while outside and will continue to do that as she has recently had bladder stones removed. ... (Read More)She is also on prescription dog food that has to be obtained from the vet that I will include if you choose to adopt her.I will also provide all of her medical records. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-01-07-00525Fonzie (male)

Pug Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Most Cats
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Fonzie is estimated at being around 2-3 years old. He was a rescue who was dumped with 21 other small dogs at a local business. We spent 2 weeks catching all the dogs to keep AC from shooting them on site. Some of the dogs were afraid of people. We only have 2 AC officers in our whole county and they could not devote 2 weeks like we did to catching them. The county shelter is small and even if they caught all the dogs to take to the shelter they would have had to put all the dogs at the shelter down to make room for them. We took them all on with no help from anyone financial or otherwise. We foot the cost of vetting, spay neuter and care out ... (Read More)of our own pockets. However we could not stand by and not do anything. We think they were dumped by a backyard breeder or puppy mill! Fonzie is a sweet laid back humble boy. He is shy at first but he warms up quickly. He is great with other dogs and he loves cats. He is crate trained and will actually put him self to bed at night in his crate when I tell him it is time. He is almost potty trained as well. He has done really well considering the situation he came from. He is currently around 12 pounds. He is neutered, current on shots, heartworm tested and on prevention and he is microchipped. He is current on flea prevention. He will go with 1 free month of pet health insurance. We do require a prescreen application to adopt. You can get that on our main web site at www.saveamuttkennel-va.info . (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-12-08-00194Angel (female)

Pug    Age: Senior

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Recently widowed Angel from the Frank and Angel pair is looking for her forever home. She is a sweet 12 yr old gal that has plenty of spunk! She loves to get outside and loves to hang out on the sofa with her foster mom and helps her foster mom work by supervising in the office. She is UTD on shots, microchipped, has had a recent dental, and is ready to pack her bags toward a lifetime of love! She may have an occasional accident but for the most part is housebroken. Would be best in a home without cats as she gets a wild hair once in a while and likes to chase them in her foster home! May need help with steps sometimes as well.

Pug    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Submissive

Hello! I am Shirley! I am about 12 yrs old and I am one active little girl! I love to play with toys and climb all over my foster family. I am good with other dogs and cats! I have been having some health issues so I have not been able to be spayed yet, my foster mom keeps talking about some albumen levels. I have no clue what that is, but it means I get an egg white every night so that makes me happy!

Rescue Me ID: 14-09-25-00899Yogi (male)

Pug    Age: Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Yogi is a very sweet boy but does come with some emotional baggage. He pulls harshly on the leash when he sees a car and wants to chase the car. He is very sensitive about his ears, being toweled off, and nail trims are a huge stressor for him. Needs someone physically able and willing to continue to work with him on these issues. I am an approximately 7 yr old pug. You can see I am a handsome boy. I had a rough start. Somehow I ended up at the Franklin County pound and my time had run out. A nice couple that loved pugs adopted me with every intention of me being a family member forever. They took care of my vetting and gave me a ... (Read More)home. Unfortunately, my new human daddy ended up with a very serious illness that resulted in them needing to find me a new home. They didn't want to give me to just anybody and contacted MAPR - so here I am! I love to give kisses and I get along with cats and dogs too. I do need to work on my wanting to chase cars and bark at them. My foster home will be working on that. I like to snuggle and sit in my foster mom's lap or close by and watch TV. I am also very athletic and can jump baby gates with the grace of a cat (well, most of the time, sometimes I knock them down!) Foster mom said I may enjoy agility type exercise. I like to sleep in the bed with my foster mom and foster siblings and I will burrow under the covers (I pulled the blanket off my foster mom my first night here - hehe!) I am going to be working on my leash manners so I will be a better walking companion. If you think I am the boy for you please inquire or apply for me today - Yogi! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-09-25-00895Simmons (female)

Pug    Age: Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Simmons is a 7 year old, female pug who came from a puppy mill bust in VA in June 2014. At the time we got her, she had a tumor on her hip, was in bad need of a teeth cleaning, was very dirty and clearly had some issues with her eyes that had gone untreated. Simmons had her tumor removed (it was benign!!!), 12 teeth removed during her dental, was spayed, brought current on shots, microchipped and had her eyes evaluated. Simmons has a dry eye condition that will require her to need drops for the rest of her life. She has almost no vision in one eye and about 20% vision in the other. Those vision issues make new environments a little ... (Read More)challenging. However, she has adapted beautifully to the lay out of her foster home and yard and gets around those environments just fine! Simmons spent the first 7 years of her life living in an outdoor pen with no protection from the elements since the pen was made of chain link fence. As a result, she was not housetrained or familiar with living in a house. She loves her crate and in a new home would need to have access to a crate. We leave the door open and when she needs to, she uses it to get away and take a nap. We feed her in a crate as well. We have found that she relaxes in there when she has her meal and the door is shut. We believe that in the past she might have had to compete with other dogs for food so this allows her to eat without feeling the need to keep an eye on other dogs. Housetraining is going to be a challenge for her. She is getting a lot better and will poop outside now. We are still working on peeing outside. Simmons has developed a new found love of toys and will drag them all around the house. She would do best in a home with at least one other dog, as she likes to play with and snuggle up to other dogs. Simmons is a pretty independent girl. She doesn't like to be held, although she is enjoying being pet more and more each day. She needs a forever home that will love her for who she is and help her continue adapting to the awesome life of a spoiled pug! (Less)

Pug    Age: Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Sebastian is a sweet 5yo neutered male pug available for adoption through Mid Atlantic Pug Rescue. He has beautiful and unusual grey/black coloring, very plush fur, and a perfect tail. With his black 'socks' and mask, he looks like a little lamb. Sebastian needs to lose a few pounds and have a dental surgery but then this squishy cuddler will be ready to find his forever family. He needs someone who can help curb his history of roaming stray! House trained and crate trained. Sebastian would be best in a home without cats. He likes to chase the cats in his foster home and is curbed with a spray from a water bottle but he can be ... (Read More)persistent. He is also vocal when he sees someone outside - across the street, walking down the street, sometimes with cars and he has a rather loud bark. He is a very sweet boy that loves to cuddle and gets along great with the other pugs. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-09-25-00856Grandma Pearl (female)

Pug    Age: Senior

Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

This 14 year old gal is new to rescue. She will see a vet on September 4th and we will give you more info soon! Grandma Pearl is a sweet and loving little lady who is doing great so far in rescue! Grandma Pearl saw a vet, she is on some medication to help with her breathing. Her teeth are in bad shape and she is not spayed, but due to some heart issues, we are not going to be able to put her under sedation at this time. As a result, she is on antibiotics for dental disease to do what we can without a full dental. She needs eye drops and she has some had some skin infections but over all she is doing really well! Grandma Pearl is an ... (Read More)adorable girl who loves life, attention, bossing the big dogs around and following her foster parents from room to room. Although she may never come off medical hold to be able to be adopted due to her medical issues, she is very well loved and enjoying life! (Less)
