Pugs are smart and sensitive and need gentle, consistent training. Pugs are wonderful with children and other pets. Pugs are very well-mannered with guests. This breed needs to be with people and likes to be the center of attention. Pugs do fine in an apartment. This breed needs to be sheltered from extreme temperatures.

British soldiers rescued several Pugs from the Summer Palace of the Chinese Emperor during the Second Opium War.
