Loveable BUG (Brindled) needs fenced (6') yard. She'd do well with adults and/or with older children. Would also do well with a larger dog companion that's playful. Paper trained, so some patience would be required for housebreaking. She was posted in early April, but still has not found a 'forever' home.

Rescue Me ID: 16-04-27-00224Max (male)
As most Pugs can be best characterized as human shadows, leaving your side to eat and piddles, Max is a bit different. He's got an independent streak. Let this not confuse you. Max's 20 pound body and 200 pound personality will part 300 pounds of giant-breed dog to greet you when you come home. He loves to love and truly enjoys showing it. Reach down to reciprocate that love and he'll eagerly kiss your face and hop on your knee. All the while, showing why he was recently nicknamed 'Lippy,' as he explains in his high and howling voice what he's been doing in your absence. And let it be known, when he gets excited or displeased, or just plain chatty, the talking shall commence and it's serious stuff. He doesn't bark much but boy he can talk. Lift him up to give him kisses and explain your day, Max's black-toed and cutely speckled paws will gently wrap over your shoulder as he hugs you tight. If it's not the darned cutest and most sincere display of love and affection I've seen, frankly, I don't know what is. Put Max down and attend to the other dogs, and off he goes. His independence and love for adventure are off and running. He may find a toy, he may find the backyard, or he may find his bowl because your home and his food clock is spot-on accurate. You'll learn about this accuracy in the mornings. 6:45 and Max is doing his version of the crocodile death roll on your face to alert you his stomach is awake. Speaking of awake, Max is a great sleeper. He's happy hemmed up under your armpit, happy lying at the end of the bed, or casually comfortable sleeping in a laundry basket puffed full with a blankie (a basket he can manage to jump into, of course). He plays great with other dogs but can ankle bite. That's cured quickly with a: an alpha who puts the paw down or b: a stern 'No!' over the course of a week or two. He will still get overly excited from time to time and go for an ankle, but usually it's remedied quick by the dog owning the ankle, or me. Max loves toys, can tug-o-war and growl for as long as you'll pull and growl back, and loves, loves, loves his walks. We were told Max (7 years old) had some serious marking issues when he came to us. It may have been territorial, a personality conflict with the other resident dog, or any number of issues. 10 days of a strict piddles (what we call going to the bathroom) routine and we've had one accident in a month. Max has free range in the house and doesn't wear belly bands. He does have access, at all times, to the backyard, something I think he truly needs to keep the accidents or marking from occurring. Max is afraid of loud noises of all kinds. So be cognizant of this when vacuuming, blow drying, hammering, whatever the task. Importantly, Max has a chronic skin condition. His medicine, approximately $40 to $50 per month, treats his condition very well but a strict adherence to this treatment is of the utmost importance. Missing a dose and a new regiment is required until his system is back to 'normal' and the meds are working again. His condition is very manageable, almost non existent with this simple dose-a-day lifestyle. He takes his meds like a champ, wrapped in a dollop of wet food atop his dry food. And that's it. Simple as can be. Max is an absolute dream. He's got enough energy to be fun and spunky and enough calm to be cool and comfy. He will make you smile and warm your heart while forcing you to chase him down from time to time because he's trying to eat your paper towel (little stinker loves those things). A nice walk will make his day (and help him sleep even better at night), and you'll see how great he can 'sit' when you give him a yummy treat. He's a great talker but even better listener (let's not all pretend we don't have full/length conversations with our pets). And his desire to please will melt your heart. This little fella is just so much adorable I could go on forever. Max is a Pug. One fantastic Pug. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-03-30-00573Trebble (male)
Hi, my name is Trebble! I found myself in a sticky situation when I arrived at a high kill shelter. I just don't understand what happened. This cool rescue picked me up and now I'm living with a great foster mom. She works at a plant nursery and I get to go to work with her every day. I love it...and her! I'm only 18 months old. I am an active pup and love to play with my people. It's probably best that I'm the only dog. I mean, really....I think I'm so much awesomeness in one package that one wouldn't need another dog. I am in the medical 'foster to adopt program.' The rescue said I have some treatment stuff to go through but I'll be just fine. Once it's over I'll be all yours! ************************* Trebble tested positive for heartworms, erlichia, and lyme's disease - all tick borne diseases that are treatable (and easily preventable). The rescue will be responsible for all of his vetting while he is in our medical program. He will test negative before being released from our program. He will also have a neuter while in our care. He is completely vetted - including all vaccinations and microchip. If you are interested in adopting Trebble you may be eligible to take him home to foster while he's undergoing treatment. Ask us about this. You can find an adoption application at www.celebratingpugs.com Trebble has an adoption fee of $300 (Less)

Animal ID: 569-16Dexter (male)
Dexter is a 4 year old neutered male that has been bounced around to 3 different homes since last summer and really needs a foster home. He is a happy, goofy guy, typical Shar Pei that needs time to trust again. An experienced shar pei person would be the best fit for him.

Rescue Me ID: 15-11-12-00226Britni (female)
Britni (10 years old) is no stranger to MAPR. Back in 2013 she was a foster and adopted by a great family. Back in June of this year Britni suddenly lost vision and everything changed. Her personality was not the same, she was very upset and her people said she was even showing signs of aggression. Not knowing what to do, if there was anything they could do, they made the difficult decision for her to return to MAPR. She was regularly at the vet over the last 5 months to try to make her feel better. Britni came to her foster home on Saturday and has been having a hard time adjusting. She is constantly running into walls tables and having a hard time learning the lay of the land. Today was the first time she started to relax, show her wonderful personality and even found a good sunspot to rest. When her area coordinator stopped by to drop some supplies off she was ready for kisses, playing with toys and even tried to rip apart a baggie. Britni is a sassy girl! Britni had a dental yesterday and a few other tests were run to make sure nothing else was going on. If all goes well, Britni will be ready for a nice calm home where she can be her sassy self in a few weeks. She would love to be an only pup where she will be spoiled rotten and can have all the attention to herself! If you are interested in adopting please visit our website and fill out an application.
