Rescue Me ID: 15-02-22-00446Toby (male)

Pug Mix    Age: Young Adult

Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

My name is Toby and I am SO happy that I was rescued from a really crowded shelter in North Carolina. I was a stray and I don't know why my owner never came to claim me because I've just the best dog--and I'm cute too! (My foster mom loves my ears-one up and one down-and they make her laugh. She says I'm the perfect dog for people who can't decide what 'style' of ears they like best.) By the way, please don't let my serious, frowny face mislead you. I'm extroverted and charming and I make friends wherever I go. If I do say so myself, I'm the perfect size (about 35 lbs.), the perfect age (a little less than a year of age) and I have the ... (Read More)perfect pedigree (a unique 'designer dog' mix of Boxer, Pug, Terrier, and a few other breeds too). I'm very smart and my foster mom thinks I'd make a good agility dog because I'm very athletic--and you should see me jump! I love people and other dogs, and I adore playing with my bouncy ball. I'm housebroken and although I'm well behaved, I have lots of energy so I'd like a home that has a safely fenced yard (please, no invisible fencing). I'd love to have a doggie playmate and I would prefer not to be a latchkey dog. (An adopter who works at home, is retired, or works part time would be a good fit for me.) I'm neutered, immunized, heartworm tested (negative) and I'm even microchipped. My adoption fee is $275--but, in reality, I'm priceless. (Hey, I'm modest too!) Seriously, I want soooo badly to have my own home, my own family, and my own special person. I'm ready to go home with the perfect adopter, so if you think you would be a good fit for me, please write to my foster mom at: rehome@onestarfish.net and tell her about yourself-your daily schedule, if you have a fenced yard, if you have other pets, etc. After that, if she feels I'd be a good fit for you, she will e-mail you an adoption application to fill out and then we can schedule a meet-and-greet. Please note: We do not operate a humane society or shelter, so we do not have a facility that is open to the public. Our dogs are fostered by volunteers in private homes, and are not available for viewing until an adoption application is filled out and references are checked. Please read the information on our home page before contacting us by e-mail. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-01-10-00210Lexi (female)

Pug    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

Welcome to rescue Lexi, an 8 yr old pug cover girl. Don't underestimate me being a little bit older I am full of energy. I love to play tug and go for walks and car rides. Scratch my back end and watch me run around in circles trying to get my tail. I am a fussy eater at first and you may need to put a small treat in my bowl. After time I won't need the treat. I am housebroken and love to be outside and I don't mind the cold and snow that much. I have stranger anxiety, and for this reason I need to have a calm, patient household with no children, or cats. I am fine with larger dogs though. I am a smart pug, and know the commands sit, stay, ... (Read More)lay down, shake, shake with other paw, and even speak if I feel motivated :) I love to snuggle and sit on your lap any chance I get and you may find me under the covers at night. I love to bark and am a good little watch pug. Lexi's adoption donation fee is $250. http://www.pughugs.org/rescue-pugs.html (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-01-05-00826Brutus (male)

Pug    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Blind, Deaf

A rescue recycle, please welcome back Brutus. Since Brutus came into foster, it was discovered that he is almost completely blind. He also has significant hearing loss, and hears very little other than high tones or sharp clapping. Brutus is a big boy for a pug too, some 41 pounds. Because of this unfortunate combination of challenges, Brutus will need to go to a home with few or no stairs, and someone very patient, dedicated, and strong so as to be able to help Brutus get into cars, onto the couch, or up stairs into the house. In addition, because of the blindness, Brutus will need guidance and reminders of where his food and water is, and ... (Read More)help outside getting back in - until he gets the lay of the land, just letting him out into a backyard to do his business will not work because he will need assistance finding his way back to the door. Brutus has daily eye drops for chronic dry eye but other than that is on no medication. He is content to sleep most of the day, with a kind word and a belly rub, and is looking for a forever home to call his own. Brutus would do well in a home with another dog who could help show him the ropes, but what is especially necessary is a new owner who will be patient with him as he adjusts - being blind and deaf, poor Brutus' world is thrown upside down by any change, leaving him feeling lost and alone. http://www.pughugs.org/rescue-pugs.html (Less)
